Congratulations to the winner of our competition, Kaden Damjanovich (8), who won an exclusive 1hr session for himself and his guests at Scitech in Northam, plus refreshments at Café Yasou.

Kaden’s entry was drawn at random and said: “I’m 8 and I just love science, I want to invent and make life better for people. I’m passionate about learning!”

Here at Wheatbelt Science Hub we know science matters, but it was great to find out why it matters to our community. Here is a sample of the responses we received from other entrants:

“Science needs to be important to our kids because science is where the dreams of today become the reality of tomorrow.”

“It explains all the ‘why’ questions.”

“[It] teaches us how the world and everything in it works and how life works which means a lot.”

“Our daughters and our sons need science to expand their minds, expand their horizons, and expand their opportunities. Science is invaluable, essential and so important!”

“I became a scientist so I could come back to the wheatbelt where I grew up and use science to improve the wheatbelt environment.”

“Science matters because you can find out interesting things that can help and change the world. Also it can be exciting and fun to do experiments and learn.”

Thanks to everyone who entered our competition. Don’t forget to come down and enjoy the free event, running 11am-4pm until the 22nd January 2016!
